Police have appealed for witnesses following the death of a man on the M42 near Alvechurch late last night (Monday 16th December).
The man was on foot when he was in collision with a heavy goods vehicle at around 10.15pm. Officers are still working to identify the man who was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver was unhurt.
The northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed between Junction 2 at Hopwood and Junction 3 for several hours as officers from the Central Motorway Police Group and West Mercia Police investigated the scene.
Sergeant Dave Lonsdale said: “We are still working to establish who the man is and further searches are being made at the scene this morning. This was a tragic incident and we would appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or the man walking on or alongside the motorway before it happened to contact us as a matter of urgency.”
