Christmas is a happy, family time for millions of people across the country. However, for many who may already be feeling vulnerable, it can be a very stressful and difficult time. Sometimes, all that person needs is for someone to listen.
That’s why, for the past 60 years, Samaritans have made themselves available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, even over the Christmas period. There’s always someone at the end of a phone line or an email if you need someone to talk to in confidence.
Stephen Hoddell, Chair of Samaritans, says on their website: “Every six seconds, somebody contacts us. Ten times a minute, we can help someone turn their life around.
“That’s a privilege, and a huge responsibility.”
If you want to support the amazing, essential work that over 20,000 Samaritans volunteers do every day of the year, consider a donation to the charity which receives very little government funding.
