A 47 year old woman has appeared before Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning, charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following an incident in Northfield on Sunday (24th Nov) evening.
West Midlands Police were called to a flat in Norrington Road at just after 6pm, where a 71 year old man was found to have suffered several stab wounds to the stomach, back and shoulder. He was taken to hospital in a critical condition. His condition is today reported to be critical but stable.
Local residents expressed concern when a section of Norrington Road was closed between the Egghill Road and Borrowdale Road junctions, while police investigated the scene. One woman was arrested at the scene.
West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Simon Astle, said: “This was an isolated incident and we understand the defendant and injured man are known to each other.”
Unemployed Susan Hughes, 47, from Linley Grove in Kings Heath, has been remanded in custody to appear before Birmingham Crown Court in March 2014.
