From West Mercia Police:
West Mercia Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a man was shot in the foot while he sat in his house in Hollywood last night (Thursday 14 November).
The man, who is aged in his 40s, was taken to hospital where he remains today (Fri 15 Nov). We are not naming the hospital where the man is.
The incident occurred at approximately 10.45pm in Lee Road, Hollywood, and police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and may have vital information.
Police believe this was a targeted attack on the address and is not a random incident. The offender did not enter the property but fired the weapon from outside the house.
One man was arrested last night (14 Nov) in connection with this inquiry.
Superintendent Kevin Purcell, commander for North Worcestershire, said: “We are appealing for witnesses to come forward and will be increasing police patrols in the area to provide reassurance to local people. We believe this was a targeted but isolated incident at the property in Lee Road.
“We particularly want to talk to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area where the shooting occurred as well as anyone who saw a man in the Peterbrook Road area of Shirley, Solihull, at around 11.15pm last night (Thurs 14 Nov).
“A Vauxhall Insignia was found burned out in Shirley and police believe this vehicle is linked to the earlier shooting in Hollywood.
“The injured man does not have life threatening injuries. However this incident could have been much more serious and we need to find out exactly what happened.
“Due to the location of the two incidents we are liaising with our colleagues at West Midlands Police. This is normal procedure for incidents of this nature.
