From West Midlands Police:

POLICE have released CCTV images of a man they want to trace in connection with a sexual assault on a 12-year-old boy in a Birmingham park.

The assault took place between 4-4.35pm Monday 16 September on Victoria Common recreation ground in Northfield.

The man is described as being Asian, aged around 30, with a black moustache and wearing what are described as shiny blue trousers.

DC Paul Giles from Birmingham’s Public Protection Unit said: “The victim, a 12-year-old boy was on Northfield High Street, when he interacted with the man who persuaded him to walk to the nearby park, where he was seriously sexually assaulted. The man then walked off in an unknown direction”

He added: “We are anxious to identify the man caught on CCTV and are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who recognises him to contact the PPU at Ladywood Police Station in Birmingham on 101.”

Local neighbourhood officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area following the assault which is being treated as an isolated incident.

  1. If this was some-one who lived next door to you, in the same street as you, some-one you spoke to you would recognize him from this picture. Although the image is poor, he could be recognized by some-one who knows him personally. Lets just hope that some-one does the right thing and hands his name in.
