From British Transport Police:

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for information after a bike was stolen from Northfield railway station

Officers have today released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident, which took place at about 4pm on Monday, 9 September 2013.

PC Mark Murphy, investigating for BTP, said: “The bike, a specialist men’s black mountain bike with red and white trim, was secured with a lock in the cycle racks at Northfield station on the morning of Monday, 9 September.

“When the victim, a 27-year-old man returned later, he discovered his bicycle and lock missing from the racks.

“We have undertaken extensive enquiries into this theft already, including speaking to witnesses, circulating this image on police systems and reviewing CCTV which shows the cycle being taken at about 4pm on 9 September.

“I am now appealing to members of the public to come forward if they recognise the men pictured as we believe they can assist our enquiries.”

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the theft, or who may have seen the bike.

PC Murphy added: “Unfortunately, bicycles remain a desirable target for many thieves at train stations. However, BTP is cracking down on this type of crime and we have a dedicated team of officers specifically focused on tackling this issue. We are undertaking plain clothes and high profile operations to catch thieves in the act. Thieves should also be aware that most cycle racks are covered by CCTV so it’s only a matter of time before we track you down.

“We are also working closely with cycle and second-hand shops in the area and are monitoring online auction and advertising sites to make it more difficult for thieves to sell on stolen property.”

Anyone with information should call British Transport Police on Freefone 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016. Alternatively the independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In all calls please quote incident reference B3/WWA of 10/10/13.

  1. You sure the one in the white jacket is male? Looks to be wearing leggings, skirt and flipflops! Either not the most feminine woman or a cross dressing bloke…Whatever, hope the scum are caught.

Shame the police never bothered circulating stuff when my son, 13, was mugged for his bike or when my other son, 15, had a knife pulled on him for his phone on a 29 bus.

    • Pity the Police aren’t as observant as you Carrie, perhaps that’s why they can’t catch them. If it turns out to be 2 males, then a guy walking around in a skirt would be quite noticeable, even in this day and age

    • hi i think its a coloured guy in baggy cycling shorts, a white gillet, lycra leggings and cycle shoes…but the pictures are not very clear.if so that would mean he has either ridden their or has come equipped to steal..i.e. he looks like a cylcist so who would suspect him?
i do hope BTP invest in some decent cameras if they are truly having a purge on cycle thieves!
