A talented Rubery chef has been shortlisted for the National Cupcake Championships 2013!
Yvonne Donald, a professionally qualified chef with a Masters degree in hospitality, is a catering manager, organising catering for weddings and events for a Moseley company.
But, Yvonne’s real passion has always been cake (whose isn’t?!)! Since 2011, when she’s not working her ‘9 to 5’ job, she’s producing stunning celebration cakes as Kake or amazing cupcakes as Cupkakery.
Winners of the competition, run by National Cupcake Week, will be judged at the Cake International show at the NEC in November, Prizes will be presented by none other than The Great British Bake Off baking goddess Mary Berry.
A rather excited Yvonne said: “[I’m] absolutely over the moon, short listed from over 300 entrants, and fierce competition, which is great publicity for my business. As well as meeting other like minded bakers and amazing judges – as well as the lady of the moment Mary Berry!”
Asked what she plans for the future of Kake and Cupkakery, Yvonne said: “My ultimate ambition is to be in a shop front, a walk in cafe with the focus on all sorts of cakes, coffee, cookies etc. as well as customers being able to order their celebration cakes. My preferred location? The new Longbridge development, now that would be amazing!”
B31 Voices wishes Yvonne the best of luck for the championships and for the future – and if she ever needs any testers, she knows where we are!
