A Northfield couple will soon be jetting off to New York City on a fundraising trip – and they’re also planning to tie the knot during their visit!
Lisa Dicks, who runs From Wags to Whiskers pet sitting, is a seasoned fundraiser, having power-walked her way through numerous marathons in London and Edinburgh for Breast Cancer and jumped out of a plane at 15,000 feet for Cramar Cat Rescue.
Lisa said: “This year I wanted to do something for the Multiple Sclerosis Society as I know a number of people who have been diagnosed with the disease.”
And this time she won’t be going it alone – her fiancé William Lang, a graphic designer, will be joining her for a 30 mile tandem bike ride around Manhattan on October 6th.
While they’re in the city that they both love, they have plans for another major event! Lisa said: “We went out to New York 6 years ago where William proposed to me in Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant out there. We love NYC! So we thought, as we’re back out there, why not get married this time!”
The couple will be getting married on their own in New York and having the wedding blessed at the beautiful Grafton Manor near Bromsgrove on their return to the UK.
But Lisa is a little nervous about how the tandem ride might go! She said: “We’ve never ridden one before, so I hope it’s not going to be too hard! Bill keeps saying I’ll be like Miss Daisy!”
We wish Lisa and William all the best for their tandem ride, their wedding and for the future!
