West Midlands Police have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following the fatal stabbing of an 18 year old man  in Selly Oak last night.

The 18 year old man handed himself in at Dudley police station at 11.45am this morning.

Ambulance crews were called to Coronation Road at around 11pm and the victim was transferred to hospital where he sadly died in the early hours of this morning.

It is believed that the victim had been attending an event at TC’s nightclub. The event was a fundraiser for murdered teen Kyle Sheehan, who was stabbed in Bartley Green on September 21st 2012, dying in hospital one week later.

Detective Inspector Gary Plant, from Force CID, said: “ We are in the very early stages of our investigations and are appealing to anyone with any information are urged to call police by dialling 101.”

Police have not yet released the name of the victim and specialist officers are supporting his family.

Social networking sites are full of messages of condolence for local grime music star Josh aka DepzMan. There is a Facebook page where friends can leave messages of condolence. One group of friends is working on releasing a CD of Depzman’s music.

  1. When I was around 9-10 years old (i’m 28 now) I used to play snooker / pool in the Coronation Pub with my Grandfather. Since it got taken over its become the absolute pits.

    It used to be a place where the mature gentleman could come and enjoy an afternoon pint, a game of snooker / pool and socialise, with most people being aged 50-80. It was always a nice pub, shocking how its turned out.

    Sadly the follow on from having teenagers enjoy one too many beverages is a few scuffles, but this one went too far it seems.

    Sad news and sad times.
