West Midlands Police are currently searching for a pensioner with dementia who walked out of his care home last night.
Frank Williams, 88, was reported missing at 10.21pm last night (Friday 6 September) over an hour after he wandered out of his care home on Ivy House Road, in West Heath.
Police sniffer dogs are supporting local officers who are searching for Mr Williams and his description has been circulated to neighbouring police forces, local hospitals and bus drivers. The West Midlands Police helicopter has also been providing aerial support using powerful thermal imaging cameras to scour open land.
Formerly of Sheldon, Mr Williams is described by carers as white, 5’10” tall and of slight build. He has receding grey hair, blue eyes and wears glasses. Mr Williams usually wears a shirt, tie and jumper and at the time of his disappearance was wearing a thick blue quilted coat.
Inspector Patricia Rigney, from Bournville police station is leading the search. She said: “Mr Williams has been missing before but as time goes on we’re becoming more concerned for his welfare.
“Mr Williams requires regular medication and does not have a phone… with him”
“I would ask that anyone who has seen Mr Williams over night or spots him this morning to call us straight away.”
