From West Midlands Police:
An elderly resident in Kings Norton has been targeted by fraudsters and tricked into giving away her bank details in a phone scam.
Claiming to be the Police, the caller states that their card has been cloned and instructs the victim to call the number on the back of the card to contact the bank.
In doing so, unbeknown to the victim, the caller stays on the line, posing to be from the bank and engages in lengthy conversations in which bank details and pin numbers are then obtained.
Please share and tell elderly family and friends that this is a scam.
Please remember to NEVER give your PIN number to anyone. If you receive a call like this then call police on 101 from a different phone line from the one the scammers called on, so if they called a land line use a mobile or a neighbour’s or friend’s phone.
