Regeneration specialist St. Modwen has launched a competition asking people to share what Longbridge means to them.

The competition, ‘What Longbridge Means to Me’, asks people who live or work in Longbridge to draw their ideas onto an oversized postcard.

A celebratory community weekend 26 and 27 October will mark the official opening of the new town centre with entertainment including live music and dance acts. And the six best drawings will be printed onto a limited edition “Bag for Life” that will be handed out to members of the public during the official launch of the first phase of the new Longbridge town centre.

Mike Murray, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen said: “Longbridge is rich with life and this competition aims to bring to light everything that makes the town such a great place to live, work and socialise. We’re looking for drawings that highlight exactly what people think makes Longbridge stand out from other towns in the area, whether its rich automotive history, friends and family or the regeneration of the town centre.”

Entries into the competition will be displayed in one of the shop units at Longbridge town centre during the community weekend and on an online gallery on the newly launched Longbridge Life website.

Mike added: “The regeneration of Longbridge has always been about giving the community back its heart. St. Modwen has been on site for eight years now and it is very exciting to be in a position where we are launching the first phase of the new town centre. I hope that as many people as possible come along to the launch weekend at the end of October to help us greet this new era for Longbridge.”

In addition to Sainsbury’s, St. Modwen has already welcomed Greggs, Costa Coffee and Autism Birmingham to the town centre. Premier Inn, Simply Eat and Beefeater will also have opened their doors prior to the community weekend. Residents will also be able to take advantage of the newly opened three acre Austin Park.

The competition is open to everyone and the postcards are available to download from www.longbridgelife.co.uk/andme. All entries must either be uploaded to the website or posted to Core Marketing, The Exchange, 19 Newhall Street, Birmingham, B3 3PJ by Wednesday 25th September. Judging of the entries will take place later that week.
