Birmingham based artist Nikki Pugh is about to (bravely!) embark on a 200 mile bike ride from Birmingham to York. And you’ll be able to monitor her progress with a reactive art installation at Bournville College in Longbridge!

Nikki explains more about the Ride (Birmingham – York) project on her blog: “As I cycle, I will transmit data back to a sculpture being exhibited in the foyer of Bournville College. In turn, this sculpture will change shape, colour and movement in response to the data in order to convey something of the effort being exerted on the other end.

The sculpture will be on display at the college from Monday 16th to Saturday 21st September.

A launch event will take place this Saturday (14th) at Bournville College bewtween 10.30am and 12.30pm. Nikki (and friends!) will be cycling to the college from Cannon Hill Park and data collected on this trip will be played back to shape the sculpture at the launch event.  If you would like to join the 7 mile bike ride (from 9.30am) between Cannon Hill Park and the College’s campus in Longbridge for the launch, see this page for details.

Sculpture viewing times (Sept 16th-21st):

Monday – Thursday 10:30am – 9:30pm
Friday 10:30am – 4:30pm
Saturday 10:30am – 12:30pm
