Woodgate Valley Fire are warning drivers to be vigilant following a series of diesel thefts from parked vehicles in the Bartley Green area.
Fire crews had to deal with another diesel spillage this morning after thieves recklessly drilled a hole in the fuel tank of a delivery lorry to steal the diesel.
Woodgate Fire told us on Twitter that there have been several incidents in the Bartley green area recently. Thieves are targeting mainly larger vehicles, such as lorries, as they have bigger fuel tanks but said that they have been also called out to a 4×4 and even a Ford Focus. The thefts have been happening during the night or in the early hours of the morning.
They advise drivers to remain vigilant and check over their vehicle before driving. If you suspect a diesel spillage call 999 and ask for the fire service.
If you have any information on these fuel thefts, are offered cheap fuel or see anything suspicious, please call West Midlands Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111
