UPDATE 3rd July 11.43am Within the last hour Stirchley stabbing suspect Leon Harrison has handed himself in. West Midlands Police thank everyone who shared their appeal.
West Midlands Police have released details on the suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing of a woman in Stirchley yesterday afternoon.
A 31 year old woman was assaulted and stabbed in the car park of Fitness First on Pershore Road yesterday afternoon at around 2pm. In the early stages of pregnancy, she remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital, after undergoing surgery yesterday.
The suspect, believed to be known to the victim, has been named as Leon Harrison, aged 33, from Kings Heath and he is known to frequent Selly Oak, Kings Heath and the Lickey Hills.
He is described as a 6’2” heavily built black man with brown eyes, a small goatee beard and four gold canine teeth. He has a distinctive panther tattoo on his right arm and a large cross on his lower left arm. He also has letters tattooed on both sides of his neck and a scar on the right side of his jaw.
Officers are also keen to speak to the driver of a blue Renault vehicle who was leaving the car park as the attack happened.
Detective Inspector Justin Spanner, from Force CID, said: “We urgently need to speak to this man and I would like to appeal to him directly to hand himself into police.
“We have trawled CCTV in the area and visited a number of addresses known to Harrison in our search for him.
“If anyone has any information about where Harrison may be, or saw what happened in the area at the time, please contact us as soon as possible.”

Anyone who spots Harrison or know of his whereabouts should not approach him, but should contact police urgently on 999.
