Three men and a youth were arrested yesterday (15th July) in the Great Park area on suspicion of committing a car key burglary in Barnt Green.
A silver Mercedes C20 was stolen from a home in White House Drive, Barnt Green at around 5am yesterday. As well as the car keys and car, a laptop and cash was stolen.
The stolen vehicle was spotted in the Rubery area yesterday afternoon and, after a brief pursuit by officers from both West Midlands and West Mercia Police forces, the stolen car was abandoned on Parkway, Great Park, Rubery.
Offenders fled and were pursued by officers and dogs with assistance from West Midlands Police helicopter.
A number of residents posted concerns on twitter and facebook as police swarmed the area, including a search of Morrisons superstore in Rubery.
The three men and youth arrested are currently in custody at Redditch police station assisting officers with their inquiries.
Detective Inspector John Cashion from Redditch CID, said: “We work closely with our neighbouring forces and this was a good example of cross border working between West Mercia Police and West Midlands Police.”
It is thought the offenders gained access through an open window and stole the keys to the Mercedes.
