West Midlands Ambulance Service responded to reports of an elderly man who had been pushed over by another man in Turves Green, Northfield, opposite the primary school, at around 3.15pm today.

A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were sent to the scene.

An ambulance service spokesman said that man in his 70s was treated for a head injury. Ambulance staff were concerned that he had been unconscious for a period. He was immobilised using a neck collar and spinal board before being taken on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
