Forestdale Primary School in Frankley was evacuated today following a fire in the building.

Readers began reporting on our Facebook page at around midday that pupils were to be collected from the Wareham Road school as there was a fire.

West Midlands Fire Service were called at 10.50am to a fire in a classroom storeroom.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus extinguished the fire which left one classroom badly damaged.

All staff and pupils were safely evacuated and parents were asked to collect their children.

The school hopes to reopen on Monday 8th July and parents will be contacted by staff.

Well done to the staff who safely evacuated all the children. Staff were offered support from staff at Frankley Community High School.
