Pupils at St Columbas Catholic Primary School in Longbridge were recently given a unique insight in to the construction work that’s currently going on in their local area.

Local housebuilder St Modwens Homes visited the school to give the pupils a lesson in site safety.  Pupils were invited to try on various pieces of personal protective equipment including high visibility jackets, safety helmets and steel-capped boots, so they could understand just how dangerous building sites can be and what is required to make them safer.  The Considerate Constructors mascot, Ivor Goodsite, was also there to help make it a fun but informative experience for the pupils.

The second phase of housing at Parkway View, which is close to the school, has recently been announced in addition to the new Longbridge town centre, which is due to open this autumn.

The photograph shows Olivia and Abbie from the school enjoying the lesson with Ivor Goodsite.
