West Midlands Police have today confirmed that the 84 year old man involved in a collision where a car crashed into a Weoley house died shortly after the accident and have launched an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

The accident happened at around 11.30am on Saturday 4th May on Black Haynes Road opposite the junction with Clover Road.

Fire fighters used cutting tools to free the man from the car, a red VW Golf, after it crashed into the house’s garage, landing on its side.

West Midlands Ambulance Service paramedics attended the gentleman and transferred him to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where he unfortunately died later that afternoon.

Sergeant Gavin Green, from West Midlands Police’s Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This incident happened in the middle of the day and there would have been people in the area at the time who witnessed it.

“We would ask anyone who saw what happened to come forward and contact us as soon as possible.”

Any witnesses should call police on 101.

Our thoughts are with the gentleman’s family and friends.
