Community groups, schools and youth groups are being offered the chance to apply for packs of free trees for delivery in November 2013.  The Woodland Trust, who are providing this fantastic opportunity, want to help groups to enhance their local area by creating green spaces, a community garden or allotment.
Any community groups can apply and there are 4000 packs of trees up for grabs.  Trees are available in packs of 30 saplings, 105 saplings, or 420 saplings and are supplied in various themes; wildlife, harvest, year round colour, future firewood and wetlands. The Trust are aiming to encourage groups to plant species that are beneficial to bees through their nectar or pollen.
Applications can be submitted via the Woodland Trust website at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/communitytrees  and are being taken until September.  The Woodland Trust advises that any interested groups should apply sooner rather than later though, as they are usually oversubscribed and may have to close applications early.
