Miranda Close
Forensics investigators and police at the scene

West Midlands Police have this morning confirmed that a couple found dead in their Frankley home last month may have died from an accidental drug overdose.

Suzanne Van Hagen, 34 and her partner John Worton, 37 were found to be unreponsive by Suzanne’s daughter on the morning of 8th February. She called paramedics but unfortunately the couple were confirmed dead at the scene.

Police investigations into the cause of death of the couple have been ongoing. Early post mortem results were inconclusive but further toxicology reports show that they both appear to have died from, what is believed to be, an accidental overdose of a Class A amphetamine.

Specialist officers continue to support the couple’s families and the case will now be referred to the coroner.
