From West Midlands Police:

A MAN has appeared in court accused of repeatedly kicking and punching his partner’s young son in an attack that’s left the four-year-old critically ill in hospital.

Police were called to a house in Millmead Road, Weoley Castle, on Saturday night by ambulance colleagues who’d found the boy with serious head and neck injuries.

Early inquiries led officers to an address in Parker Street, Edgbaston, where a 44-year-old man was arrested just before 2am (March 24).

And after being questioned by West Midlands Police detectives he was last night charged with wounding the youngster and also assaulting the boy’s mother.

The man appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning; he was remanded in prison ahead of his next court appearance at Birmingham Crown Court on July 1.
