imageA new sweet shop is set to open its doors in Rubery this month. And star of reality TV show The Only Way is Essex Bobby-Cole Norris will be at the big opening event!

The new store, Delightfully Sweet, will sell retro, traditional and imported sweets. There will be over 200 traditional sweetie jars in stock.

Co-owner Lucy said: “We reached our selection after putting this to our Facebook page, asking people what they would like to see stocked from their childhood. We had people requesting Choc Lick, Foiled Icy Cups, flying saucers, teacakes & many many more nostalgic varieties! Its been really fun sourcing everything to make sure our customers are happy.

“We will be selling all of the old fashioned favourites plus imports from America, like the Wonka range, Lucky Charms, Peanut M&Ms etc and also American drinks such as Vanilla Coca Cola, Grape Fanta & Cherry Dr Pepper.” Lucy added.

As well as selling sweets over the counter, Delightfully Sweet will offer Sweetie Buffets for special events such as weddings and birthdays, personalised children’s party bags and wedding favours, and Sweet Trees.

The shop, next door to Rubery Social Club in New Road, is currently undergoing a makeover and will open for business on Saturday 12th January.

The grand opening event will take place on Saturday 2nd February. TOWIE star Bobby Norris will be on hand to officially open the shop and have photos taken with customers.

At the opening, there will also be free candy floss for children with every purchase made, face painting, stilt walkers and more.

  1. Sounds interesting idea. Though I do get ‘old sweets’ from several other places. Will pop in and see, but not whilst TOWIE person is there, can’t stand the programme and that’s enough to put many people off.

    • I agree, nice to see a real shop opening, I will pop in from time to time when in the area, we need to support local ‘real’ shops.

  2. toffee bonbons really hard to get hold of and banana toffee whirls impossible, stock them and you have a regular weekly customer.

  3. Good luck guys nice to see some old traditional sweets back will bring back many memories for many people. Will pop in next time I’m up that way.

  4. Hi i travelled (walked) in snow to get to your shop and it was shut when i got there and it was 17:14. It clearly says 08:00-17:30 on here!!!

    • Hi Scott. They must have adapted their opening times since they gave us this info prior to opening shop!

I’ve just checked their Facebook page and it says 8-5 Mon-Sat! I’ve changed details above.

Sorry you had a wasted journey :( Hope you get a chance to pay them a visit again – I haven’t had a chance to go yet but I’ve heard it’s brilliant!
