From Birmingham South Police:
Officers in Kings Norton are donating more than twenty festive hampers to families across the ward thanks to close links with partner agencies and local shops.
The charity appeal, now in its sixth year, has seen local companies donate enough food to produce 22 well-stocked hampers. These will be distributed to deserving families in the local community as identified by the neighbourhood policing team.
Donated hampers contained everyday items such as biscuits, tinned goods, selection boxes, soft drinks and of course Christmas crackers!
PC Marjorie Levy, responsible for the Kings Norton charity hamper appeal, said: “Throughout our daily work we meet many hard working families who could use a little extra help and support over the festive period.
“Despite the current financial difficulties facing businesses and partner agencies across the area, we are delighted to report that this years appeal has seen more donations than ever, with 22 hampers being prepared for delivery to local families.
“We have been genuinely touched by support shown for the collection and I have no doubt that these hampers will ensure several families have a safe and enjoyable Christmas.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our partners for donating items and helping us once again bring some well deserved Christmas magic to Kings Norton.”
