From Acting Sergeant Karl Pierpoint, Longbridge Police:

Local neighbourhood officers from the Longbridge team were out in force ( and the cold) on Saturday 1st December to property mark residents’ belongings in the Rednal area with neighbourhood watch coordinators and local residents.

Property was marked including bicycles, lawn mowers, strimmers and even a car jack!

This is in response to a slight rise in sheds being targeted in the Rednal area of the ward. Residents attended last months neighbourhood tasking meeting at Deelands Hall, Rubery where the issue was raised as one of the ward priorities by the community.

We will be showcasing the marking equipment to all our Neighbourhood Watch coordinators on 05/12/12 so that we can encourage and empower the local community to access the equipment and ensure that each and every resident has the opportunity to secure their property and make it difficult for offenders to commit crime within our community.

  1. Many thanks to our local officers for marking our property on Saturday. We thought it was a fantastic idea, and hope it will now provide a deterrent to would-be burglars! Cheers!
