Commuters suffered delays during rush hour this evening due to two accidents on Bristol Road South.

Two cars collided outside McDonalds restaurant in Longbridge at around 5pm. Emergency services attended the accident with crews  from Northfield Fire Station cutting casualties from the vehicles. Traffic queues built up on the city bound side on the A38.

Shortly after, other collision just outside Northfield caused delays in the opposite direction with traffic diverted via Hole Lane. The accident by the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital is reported to have involved three vehicles.

Station Commander Neil Johnson commended Northfield fire crews for their work freeing the Lomgbridge  casualties via twitter, and tweeted regarding the casualties: “…back & neck pains, but both conscious I believe.”

We’ll bring you more info on casualties as and when available.
