UPDATE 23rd October 2012 A third man has sadly died as a result of this accident. The 26 year old rear seat passenger was taken to hospital after the accident in the early hours of Sunday morning, but died yesterday morning. B31 Voices believes that at least one of the deceased lived in the Northfield constituency area. Police are appealing for anyone who saw a grey MG ZR travelling from Birmingham towards Selly Oak at around 4am on Sunday morning to get in touch with the Collision Investigation Unit on 101
Bristol Road is to remain closed near Pebble Mill in Selly Oak this morning as police investigate a serious collision in which two men died and one was injured. There will also be disruptions to traffic on Pershore Road as the Great Birmingham Run takes place this morning.
Emergency services were called to the accident at the junction of Bristol Road and Pebble Mill Road at just after 4am this morning (Sunday) after a car collided with a tree.
Two men, the front seat passenger and a rear seat passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third man, travelling in the rear seat, was trapped in the vehicle for a time. Once released, the man was transferred to the Major Trauma Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham with serious multiple injuries.
A fourth man, the driver of the car, was treated for minor injuries and taken to the QEHB for assessment.
West Midlands Police are calling for any witnesses to the accident to come forward. Also, if anyone saw an MG ZR in the area prior to the accident please contact the Collision Investigation Unit on 101
