A TEENAGER is seriously ill in hospital this afternoon (12 October) after being stabbed in Longbridge.

Emergency services were called to Bournville College on Longbridge Lane at around 1:30pm today.

Ambulance crews tended to a 17-year-old lad who had suffered a serious stab wound.

He was immediately taken to hospital with life threatening injuries and a cordon was put in place by police.

One person was arrested in connection with the assault at around 2:25pm today near to the scene.

Detective Inspector Justin Spanner, from Force CID, said: “We are in the very early stages of this investigation and are still speaking to witnesses.

“I want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the assault at around 1:30pm today and who has any information about what exactly happened.”

A large number of officers are at the location to reassure college students and local residents.
