A BRAZEN axe man smashed a front display of a jewellers today (Friday) in Northfield and grabbed gold chains and rings worth thousands of pounds while people queued at a bus stop just yards away.
The man, who is described as white and wearing dark clothing, smashed the glass at the front of the Gemini Jewellers on Bristol Road South without going into the store just after 1pm. He stole 30 gold chains and 10 gold wedding rings worth between £3,000 and £4,000 before escaping on foot.
The thief did not attempt to hide his identity as his face was not covered and detectives are currently examining CCTV in a bid to identify him.
