West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses to an accident which left a 12 year old girl seriously injured yesterday afternoon.

The schoolgirl was struck by a car as she attempted to cross the road after getting off a bus in Monyhull Hall Road, Kings Norton at around 2:45pm on Monday 3rd September. Police said that the bus had remained stationary as she walked in front of it to cross, but as she walked out into the road she was hit by a grey Skoda Fabia.

Following the accident, the girl was taken to hospital with a serious head injury and the road remained closed until around 4:55pm.

Investigators are trying to piece together a full picture of what happened and request that anyone who witnessed the incident call the regional Collision Investigation Unit on 101. Alternatively, if you wish to remain anonymous, please call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
