A man wanted for questioning as part of a burglary investigation fled from West Midlands Police officers this morning and took refuge on the roof of a house in Northfield.
He got onto the house roof in Heath Road South at around 9.30am after being chased by police.
He has remained there all day, waving and throwing roof tiles at police officers.
West Midlands Police tweeted the following details when we asked about the incident: “Man fled when saw local officers and climbed on nearby roof… Road closed at moment >> < we want to speak to him in connection with a burglary invgn. Specialist negotiators are there >> >> we will keep you updated and hope incident will be resolved soon.”
Residents reported that the man was still on the roof at 4.30pm. Police and paramedics remain at the scene.
