From Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice:

People of all ages are being invited to join one of Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice’s biggest mass participation fundraising events this September.

Volunteers are being sought to take part in the charity’s Butterfly Appeal, which is on Friday, September 28, and Saturday, September 29.

Formerly known as the Annual Street Collection, the event involves hundreds of people giving up anything from two hours to two days to collect money at locations across Birmingham and Sandwell, the areas the Hospice serves.

In 2011 the campaign raised around £9,750, funding hundreds of hours of care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families before and after bereavement.

Organiser Sarah Barber said: “Since we began them, street collections have raised something in the region of £350,000 for the Hospice, so it’s a really important way of funding the care on which so many people across our community rely.

“The Butterfly Appeal is a fantastic event for all generations to join together. We have collecting locations across Birmingham and Sandwell, so wherever you are based there will be a team near you.”

To take part in Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice Butterfly Appeal 2012 please telephone Sarah on 0121 472 1191.
