Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life at Cofton Park in Longbridge has had to be cancelled due to the heavy rain and subsequent flooding of the venue.
Event organisers and Birmingham City Council have made the difficult decision because of health and safety concerns for the participants due to take part in the 5k event on Sunday, July 8th.
Tracey Duffy Race for Life Event Manager in Birmingham, said: “We are very sorry for any disappointment and inconvenience caused by the last-minute cancellation.
“The health and safety of our participants has to come first so we hope everyone understands why this difficult decision had to be made.
“All 1,300 participants of the Longbridge Race for Life will be contacted by Cancer Research UK and we will do our utmost to reschedule this event at a later date.”
