“Bad officials are elected by good citizens who do not vote”- George Jean Nathan | VOTE by Theresa Thompson, on Flick

With a referendum coming up in May to ask Birmingham residents whether they would like to have an elected mayor, we asked former MP and Yes to a Brum Mayor campaigner Siôn Simon to help explain what the idea was all about.

Nicky Getgood of Digbeth is Good has just posted some really useful information and links on the subject.

It’s probably a little early in the day as many people may not have made up their mind yet, or may change it before the referendum date, but we like polls (they’re pretty!) and haven’t done one for a while, so here you go…!

  1. Great result, I hope this is reflected in the referendum result. Given London’s unenviable record on mayoral politics I don’t think it’s something we ought to imitate in Birmingham. And Sion Simon? Is he for real? He was one of the last parliament’s worst expense cheats. He’s got some cheek seeking office again.
