West Midlands Police have today released the name of the man who died as a result of a stabbing incident in Larkhill Walk, Druids Heath on Sunday (12th February).

The victim has been named as Oliver “Oli” Smith, a 23 year old man from Sisefield Road in Kings Norton. 

Oli’s family paid tribute to him: “Oli was a loving father and son, tragically taken from us. He will always be missed and never forgotten”

Following the incident, Oli was taken to hospital by paramedics but died later in hospital. A forensic post-mortem revealed that he died as a result of a single stab wound to the chest.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody helping police with enquiries after detectives were granted a warrant of further detention yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 14 February).

Detective Inspector Shelly Reynolds, who is leading the investigation, said: “We want to ensure that the person responsible is brought to justice so I would still ask anybody who witnessed the incident or has any information that might help us to get in touch as soon as possible.”
