Following an initial consultation last year, proposals for a sixth form at Colmers School have been submitted to the Local Authority and published for public consultation.
After consulting pupils, families, staff and neighbouring schools and colleges, a proposal outlining details of the planned sixth form was approved by the school’s governing body in mid-December.
The proposals will see the academically orientated sixth form opening in September 2013 and offering two set pathways of A level / A level equivalent study. The school hopes to recruit between 40 and 50 students in the first year.
The public consultation will take place over the next four weeks before the Local Authority make a final decision.
In a letter to families, headteacher Barry Doherty has encouraged people to submit their views to the consultation.
