UPDATE 17/11/11 : Industrial action has been suspended for eight weeks while talks are ongoing. Refuse workers will still take part in the national pension strikes on 30th November Read more on the BBC News website
Refuse collectors for Birmingham City Council are due to take part in industrial action this week.
The workers will strike on Friday 18th November and Monday 21st November.
Negotiations are ongoing to try to prevent the action.
If your collection is due on Friday or Monday, the council’s Waste Management team ask that you place your rubbish at the edge of your property at the usual time. If the strike goes ahead, leave the bags there and they will be collected as soon as possible.
Also, a reminder that this week and next week are the last green garden waste collections before they stop for winter. The garden waste collections will recommence in February and Waste Management suggests that you either take any green waste to the Lifford Lane recycling centre or store them until February.
