This Saturday sees a fundraising night for A Trek For Owen and Rubery Social Club.
The family event will see local band The Black Bears play alongside The Superficials and The High Commissioners.
Owen from Rubery died on November 16th 2010 aged just 9 years old, shortly after developing aplastic anaemia. His mum Susan Evans, her friend Lexi Sutton and his former headteacher Paul Freear will be walking part of the Great Wall of China next year to raise funds for the Aplastic Anaemia Trust in his memory.
Some of Owen’s school friends and their families have already raised over £6500 for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital, where Owen was treated, by taking part in the BRMB walkathon back in May. There will also be a charity auction in 2012, with some fabulous celebrity sponsored lots.
The ‘Band Night’ will be a fun family event. Raffle tickets will be on sale throughout the night with prizes including a DVD Player, Keep Calm Gallery Prints, Free entry tickets to local attractions, driving lesson voucher, signed photos/posters, Vouchers, bottles of spirits and much much more.
A Trek for Owen wristbands will be onsale £2 each and the kitchen will be open to purchase food.
Tickets cost just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children under 12.
