We spotted this sign, walking through Balaam’s Wood Local Nature Reserve on the way to Frankley Carnival back in August.

This should read Balaam’s Wood, not Ballam’s! Penny Moore from the Friends of Balaam’s Wood, a voluntary organisation that helps take care of the nature reserve, told us it had always been spelled wrongly and they had asked for it to be replaced before. She said: “There was a second one spelt wrongly when we asked it to be replaced they put one up saying Rubery Lane! So best not to ask again.”

Today, Rubery resident Donato Esposito drew our attention to this plaque at Beacon Hill – I must admit it took me several minutes to spot the error! We’re sure the people of ‘Birmngham’ are very pleased!
