The Birmingham Youth Theatre (BYT), based in West Heath, has been selected to perform as part of next weekend’s Artsfest in Birmingham city centre.
Serving South West Birmingham, including West Heath, Northfield & Longbridge, the group is run by Artistic Director Georgina Mason and has made great advancements since she took over earlier this year.
Georgina told us: “I have been running BYT since March this year, and in a short amount of time the young participants of Northfield have worked hard to promote a positive reputation by creating contemporary drama pieces that explore issues relevant to their local communities and generation.
“Their hard work has been recognised by Birmingham City Council and the group have been selected to perform a devised piece at this years Artsfest event,” Georgie added.
The group is also working with West Midlands Police Authority to create a drama piece exploring young people’s issues and their relationship with the local police. The piece will be performed at Tally Ho, Edgbaston during a police event to celebrate young people’s positive involvement within their local communities.
BYT are performing at Artsfest on Saturday 10th September. The performance is called NODES and you can read more about the project on their dedicated website. You can see BYT perform the piece at:
