Press release from West Mercia Police:
Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was injured chasing thieves who stole a brick saw from his van in Lickey.
It happened between 9am and 9.20am on Thursday, 1 September, in Monument Lane, Lickey.
The victim, who is in his 20s, was working at a property there when a man stole the Stihl brick saw, worth £700, from the back of his van.
The offender ran off to a waiting white Nissan van, which was being driven by another man, and the victim gave chase. He tried to grab the offender but fell over, dislocating his shoulder. He was later treated in hospital.
The man who stole the saw is 6ft 2ins tall and has ginger hair. He was wearing a grey zip-up hooded top, jogging bottoms, gloves and trainers. There is no description for the driver.
A third man was with the offenders but he did not get in the van. He was wearing a hooded top and had his face covered. It is not known which direction he went.
PC Victoria Cozens from Rubery said: “The victim remembers seeing a number of vehicles using the road at the time of the incident so it is quite likely that someone may have noticed the van or the offender taking the saw.
“We would like to hear from anyone who thinks they may have seen the van in the area around the time of the theft or thinks they know who was involved.
“The offender may try to sell the Stihl saw and therefore we are also eager to hear from anyone who might be offered one for sale.”
Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact PC Cozens on 0300 333 3000, quoting incident 126-S-010911, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
