A Macmillan Cancer Support charity concert is taking place on Saturday 29th October at 7.30pm at St. Andrew’s church, Barnt Green. Hosted by Blackwell Concert Band, the concert has been organised by band secretary Vicky Stock, who has been recently diagnosed herself with secondary breast cancer at the age of just 32.
The concert will feature the band and also local choir Bel Canto singers, as well as Fairfield Folk.
Vicky, who is currently undergoing targeted drugs treatment and is due surgery soon, said “The band has pledged this year to raise as much money for Macmillan as possible, as the charity has been such a great source of support for me on my cancer journey.”
This year is Macmillan’s 100th birthday and Blackwell Concert Band has joined the ‘100’s and 1000’s’ campaign, aiming to raise over £1000 from this concert, as well as their other efforts at Bromsgrove Carnival in June and at Severn Valley Railway’s Santa Special event in December.
Information and tickets can be obtained from Vicky by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 07845 897760.
Blackwell Concert Band is always on the lookout for more players and anyone interested in the band can find out more at www.blackwellconcertband.co.uk
