The M5 remained closed this morning following a fatal accident in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday 26th July.
Police were called when a heavy goods vehicle collided with a bridge. The male driver of the lorry was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.
The motorway was closed in both directions between junctions 4 (Lydiate Ash) and 3 (Halesowen) whilst emergency crews attended the scene. Part of Carters Lane running over the motorway is also closed due to damage caused to the motorway bridge.
Access to the motorway at junction 3 northbound has re-opened this morning, however the motorway still remains closed in both directions between junctions 3 and 4.
Police are investigating the collision and are appealing for any witnesses to contact them at CMPG on 0121 626 1285.
