The event was opened by Cllr John Lines, the Cabinet Me

In his opening speech, Cllr Lines said: “The Balaam Wood development is the first of our housing initiatives to provide new family homes for both sale and rent. It signifies our commitment to working with our partner Kier Partnership Homes to build sustainable communities, where people choose to live.
“I am also pleased to announce that Kier Partnership Homes is providing 15 employment and training opportunities for local people, particularly our younger people, which is an age group that needs our support.”
Chris King added: “These houses have been delivered in a new way and we are all learning the best ways to make things happen. It has been a pleasure to work with partners who are willing to face these new challenges head on and find solutions to obstacles. We are very proud of the size and quality of these new homes; they are incredible value for money.”
David Rhead concluded: “We are really pleased our investment is enabling the council and Kier to make good progress on the regeneration of Egghill. This latest phase is a massive boost to the local community, providing very high-quality homes for Birmingham.”
