West Mercia Police have issued an urgent appeal for help after the discovery of a man’s body in Rubery, Rednal.

The man in his eighties was found dead after officers were called to a house in Waseley Road, Rubery, Rednal this morning.

The man’s death is being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.

Detectives have issued an urgent appeal to trace a car missing from the driveway of the house.

The blue Ford Focus MH05 DFN was taken sometime between 9.30pm last night (Thursday) and 7.30am today (3 June).

Officers are at the scene and investigations are ongoing .

Anyone who has seen the vehicle today or knows where it is now should call police at Bromsgrove CID 0300 333 3000, quoting 97/S/030611, or Crimestoppers 0800 555111.

UPDATED Saturday 4th June 9pm: West Mercia Police have now confirmed that this is a murder investigation. The man has been named as 83 year old Paul Cox.

Ch Insp Amanda Blakeman, of West Mercia Police, said: “We have established that Mr Cox was attacked and has died as a result of that.

“A murder investigation has been launched and we would appeal to anyone who has seen his missing blue Ford Focus, or who knows where it is, to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“We also want to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity at or near the address where this happened.

“The smallest amount of information could be vital to our investigation.”
