Northfield Manor House – In Pictures

Northfield Manor House 2002 by Ash Matadeen

Following Leigh Walker’s great article about the fate of Northfield Manor House, we found out that English Heritage had assessed the building (pdf) for statutory listing and found it unsuitable, that it IS locally listed, that it is still owned by the university and that is up for sale.

Leigh has been working hard looking into this, and has some new information which he’ll be updating you with next week. (Thanks, Leigh!)

In the meantime, we thought you might enjoy these pictures from Ash Matadeen, a former student at Birmingham University and resident of the halls of residence at the Manor House. They show the building in much better days!

Thank you, Ash!

  1. i’m particularly interested in this building, saw it today and it has strayed very far from its former glory – Is it up for sale ? if so what sort of price ? ownership details !!! Any info would be greatly appreciated.

  2. Hi Sas – is that current gossip – the last I heard a few months ago was that there had been interest to buy but the recession had put a stop to it.

  3. I’ve just heard that they couldn’t get the planning permission & last night surprise surprise it’s magically burnt to the ground :-( how much more of our historic buildings have to go before this sort of thing is stopped?
